AARP Driving Class
Date(s):April 4 & 5, May 2 & 3, June 6 & 7, 2017
Location: Senior Station
Time: 9:30 am – 1:30 pm
Target Age: Adults aged 50 and older
Description: Pre-registration is required. Students will learn defensive driving techniques, new traffic laws and rules of the road and much more. Plus upon completion you could save money on your car insurance!
Registration will be held at the Senior Station. AARP members fee $15 and non-members $20. Instructor, Eddie Carr

Lunch & Learn
Date: 2nd Mondays
Time: 10:30 – 11:30 am

Target Ages: Adults 55 & older
Description: A variety of topics that are health, financial community and wellness related. So staying informed is the vest way to stay healthy. One of our goals is to keep you informed. Come out and hear the latest information on these topics. Registration is required.


Enhance Fitness
Date: April 10, 2017
Time: 10:30 – 11:30 am
Target Age: Adults aged 55 and older
Description: This program is for adults aged 55 and older. The programs consist of light stretching, flexibility, increase blood flow and building strength. Each session will end with a cool down. Sessions will meet three times a week. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Must have a City of Portsmouth facility ID. Instructor Tara Turner

Fitness Room
Dates: Open Monday-Friday
Time: 9 am – 12 noon and 1 pm – 4 pm

Description: Come, work out in our fitness room. Our equipment will help keep you fit. You must be a registered participant. Proper athletic footwear and gym wear required. Participant must have a valid facility I.D. Card.

Community Resource Center/Senior Center
Day: Tuesdays

Description: Portsmouth Health Department and Portsmouth Parks and Recreation introduce: The Community Resource Center. Community Health Workers are available every Tuesday from 10:30am-1:30pm to consult and provide information on local resources for the Senior population. The volunteers are there to complete necessary intake paperwork with clients and to address their needs concerning topics from chronic disease to housing assistance! Our biggest priority is closing the gap to care, and linking our Portsmouth residents with the information they need to live long, healthy lives! Open Computer Lab

Description: Open computer lab is for registered participants. You must sign in and out. Participant must have a valid facility I.D. Card.

Sewing Class

Description: Registration is required one week prior to class. Projects and supply list will be given at time of registration. Participant must have a valid facility I.D. Card.


St. Patrick Day
Dates: March 17, 2017

Description: The Senior Station goes Green. Celebrating Ireland and its heritage with an Irish lunch, games history and prizes. Join us for a bit of Irish Luck. A donation of $7.00 is due by March15, 2017

Spring Craft Explosion
Dates: March 22, 2017
Time: 10 am – 2 pm
Location: Senior Station
Target Ages: Ages 55 & older
Description: Craft time, learn something new. Crafts will be a make and take. A variety of stations will be available for you to try different crafts. A donation fee of $5.00 per person will be used for materials. This is due at the time of registration. Lunch will be provided by Senior Services of Southeastern VA. You must register and a donation for lunch is requested the day of this event.

Easter & Spring
Dates: April 14, 2017
Time: 10 am – 12 pm

Description: Join us in our celebration of spring with a breakfast, games, crafts and much more. A donation of $7.00 is due by April 7, 2017.

Mother’s Day Tea

Description: We are Celebrating Mothers at an Old Fashion Tea Party. Wear you finest hat, dress and gloves. Bring your Tea Cup and be ready to enjoy a refined afternoon. Refreshments will be served. A donation of $6.00 is due by May 5, 2016

Annual Senior Sports Days

Target Ages: Ages 50 & older
Description: In honor of Older Americans Month we are Celebrating 28years of the Portsmouth Senior Sports Days. Event offered are track & field, Frisbee throw, softball hit & throw, beanbag throw, basketball throw and more. Our new events are Golf, Pinochle and spades. Registration begins March 1, 2017 and ends April 1, 2017. Registration forms may be picked up at Senior Station, Portsmouth Public Libraries and 3rd Floor City Hall Parks & Recreation office.


Trip to National Museum of African American History & Culture
Date: March 14, 2017
Time: 6 am – 10 pm
Target Ages: Adults 55 & older
Description: We will spend the day exploring the newest museum on the Washington Mall. We will travel by motor coach. Games and refreshments will be provided. The fee is $35.00 per person with a $20 nonrefundable deposit at registration. Balance due by March 10, 2017.

Williamsburg Shopping Experience
Date: April 5, 2017
Time: 8 am
Target Ages: Adults 55 & older
Description: Let’s shop till we drop. Join us on a Williamsburg shopping experience. We will be stopping at the Williamsburg Pottery and the Williamsburg Premium Outlet Mall! Be ready to walk and enjoy your day of exciting Bargains at Bass, Bath & Body Works, Chico’s, Clarks, Coach, As Seen on TV and so much more…. All must register by March 31, 2017. Donation of $35.00 per person.

Silver Series Spirit of Norfolk Cruise
Date: July 12, 2017
Time: 10:30 am- 3 pm (boarding at 11:30 am)
Target Ages: Adults 55 & older
Description: Come and enjoy an afternoon on the water. It’s a one of a kind event cruising from downtown Norfolk’s waterfront. Leaving from the Senior Station.  You will enjoy a wonderful buffet, contest, trivia games, dancing and great prizes. You must have all fees paid by June 31, 2017. The price is $40.00 per person. Space is limited.

Wildwood Seafood Feast
Date: September 18-21, 2017

Description: trip includes 3 nights, 3 breakfasts, 3 dinners and a one All you can eat Seafood Feast Buffet. A $20 voucher at Resorts Casino, Trip to Atlantic City,Washington Street Mall, Smith Village and Wildwood’s famous Boardwalk and much more. Christmas in New York
